Robert Kiyosaki Keys To SuccessRobert Kiyosaki, author of the Rich Dad Poor Dad series of books which have inspired people all over the world said, “The size of your success is measured by the strength of your desire; the size of your dream; and how you handle disappointment along the way.”

Let me break out those keys for you below…

The Three Keys To Success:

1) Have a strong desire.
2) Dream big.
3) Learn to handle disappointment.

According to Kiyosaki these three simple concepts can and will lead you to amass great wealth and fortune. They will spur you on when times are tough and help you through whatever difficulties you may face. And we all know that there’s bound to be some trouble lurking around a corner somewhere out there.

Let’s look at the three keys to success a little more…

Understanding The Three Keys To Success

Success Key 1 – Have A Strong Desire
Robert Kiyosaki teaches us that our success will be directly influenced by the strength of our desire. That if we have weak a desire we’ll have little success. But if we have a strong desire to achieve something then that passion will give us a sure path to success.

Why is that?

Say you want to start a business, what are you willing to sacrifice to achieve that goal?

Are you willing to stay up late and get up early to work on it?

Are you willing to drag your tired butt to networking meetings so that you can build up your business contacts?

Are you willing to knuckle down and hit the library to do some research in order to find out if your business idea is financially viable?

Are you able to live modestly for a couple of years while you build the business?

Heck, are you OK with eating macaroni and cheese diners for months on end because that’s all you can afford because you’ve socked away all your money into getting your dream off the ground?

Now can you see why all the great inspirational business people all throughout time will tell you to make sure that you have a burning desire to achieve that dream.

They know that if you don’t, at the first rough patch, you’ll bail on your dreams. Frustrating the potential that seeks to express itself through you.

Success Key 2 – Dream Big
Success is going to be measured by the size of your dream according to Mr. Kiyosaki. Now what could he mean by that?

Our dreams need to rip us from the current comforts of ourselves and hurl us into unknown worlds. That way we can be challenged to grow. We can be forced to bring out the best of ourselves.

Big dreams motivate other people as well. They draw them into your life. Inspiring them to help you with your quest. Giving them a chance to express their own gifts and talents through your vision.

But even more importantly, having a big dream should really motivate and inspire you. Your dreams should lift you high. And when you reach and achieve those heights all of existence is made better by your efforts.

Success Key 3 – Learn To Handle Disappointment
Now the last thing that Robert Kiyosaki wants to do is discourage you. That wouldn’t serve any real purpose for him or you.

All the great leaders and motivators within the world want you to go for it. They want you to live your best life.

But they want you to know that there’s going to be some hard times. You’re going to get knocked down, beat up and face your fair share of disappointment. And they want to make sure that you’re ready for it. That you’re going to dust yourself off and try again. That you’re ready and willing to tap into the immeasurable power that is within you and use those resources to give it your best shot.

Will you be able to pick yourself up and dust yourself off to face yet another challenge? Or will you crumble and fall under the pressures of the world and what you’ll inevitably face to achieve your dreams?

Your success will be determined by how you handle disappointment and defeat. Handle it poorly and your world will be a reflection thereof.
But if you can handle defeat well and still hold your head up high after being thrown down to the ground, you will achieve the heights of which you set your sights upon.

So there your have it. Three keys to success: 1) Have a strong desire. 2) Dream big. 3) Learn to handle disappointment.

Now go out there and create your own success.

And remember to have fun, make money and change the world.

You ever have one of those moments where you just come to a screeching, fishtailing, full-on stop?

You’ve been working on a project, campaign or something that you’ve been pushing forward and putting your time into. And all of a sudden you’re just dead in the water.

And no matter what you do, you can’t move it forward.

Happened to me recently. And it drove me crazy. Then I did something that changed everything. I asked myself “Why?”

Why had this happened?

What was I missing?

Was there a better way to do what I was trying to do?

I looked at it from a bunch of different angles. I stepped back from the project and gave myself some breathing space.

And about 24 hours later the answer hit me like a ton of bricks. It was slick, easier to implement, would save a bunch of money and reduce the risk involved as well.

So the next time something you’re working seems to be going nowhere ask yourself “Why?”.

You may be surprised by the answers you find.

Remember to have fun, make money and change the world.

Holding The Cat By The TailI love cats. Dogs are cool too. But I live in Toronto. So for me a cat is the way to go. I’ve been dying to get another little kitty. But my kids are young. And I’ve seen them with other cats. They get overwhelmed with excitement and joy. Eye’s bugging out of their heads, grins spreading ear to ear. Any cat that spots them runs. Hides under the coach for the rest of the day.

So I’ll wait. 2 more years. I can do it. (Probably not)

My last cat’s name was Misty.

She was part of the family for years. She was black, awesome and the runt of the litter.

And you know what she hated?

When you held her tail.

I did it once. Never again. I was stupid and young. Boy did I learn that lesson fast.

“If you hold a cat by the tail you learn things you cannot learn any other way.”
Mark Twain

My hands streaked with scratch marks. The lessons was immediately imprinted on my brain.

The same is true with every aspect of your life.

There’s only so much standing around and talking that you can do. Sooner or later you’re going to have to take hold of the cats tail.

You’re going to have to jump into the mix. Get banged around. Scratched up. You’re going to have to get in the game sometime.

So why not get into it now?

Stop dreaming about the success that you want and go out and start creating it.

Remember to have fun, make money and change the world.

Best Day Ever

Ian Paul Marshall —  May 16, 2011

Best Day EverSponge Bob was planning his best day ever, but it all went downhill when he had to help his friends with their problems…

What would your best day ever look like?

Think about it for a second. I’ll wait.

Having trouble?

Try this – deep breath in…

Now answer this question:

If you had the power to create the Best Day Ever (BDE) for yourself what would it look like?

When would your BDE start?

What would you do right after you woke up?

And then after that?

How would you be using your time? You’d have about 16 – 18 hours. So what would be doing with them?

What would be the details of your BDE?

Go through the step by step action plan for your BDE. Write it down. I’ll wait.

Once you get clear on that try this…

Imagine you got to do your BDE all over again. Two BDE’s back to back.

What if you had three BDE’s back to back? Would you be the happiest person in the universe?

If you answered yes, then then try this…

Try doing something today, something small, that will bring you closer to making every day the BDE?

Remember to have fun, make money, and change the world.

a moment of mindfulnessThe first time I heard this saying my whole world stopped. It was as if all the wisdom of the universe had been squeezed and squished into three little sentences.

These three lines have changed my life. So much so that I’m going to get them tattooed on my forearm. A life mark so to speak. A subtle reminder of the wisdom and the power that sleeps within each and every one of us.

We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.”
The Buddha

This post is part of Monday morning series called “Moment of Mindfulness”. If you enjoyed it you’ll probably love “The Tao of Abundance: 101 Prosperity Meditations To Supercharge Your Wealth Consciousness.

a moment of mindfulness

So I’m starting up a new series here on the site. It’s called A Moment of Mindfulness. It’ll run every Monday. I’ll be sharing Tao and Zen type moments of truth. My hope is that these posts will inspire and help you find a moment of mindfulness within all the seemingly mad-moments of life.

To start I figured why not share a meditation from my book, The Tao of Abundance.

The wisdom of the Tao is timeless. Cultures and people throughout time have found inspiration from it’s teachings. Lao-Tzu the author of the Tao-Te-Ching was once asked what makes the Tao so valuable? He answered, “Why is the tao so valuable? Because it is everywhere, and everyone can use it.”

It is my hope that this will find you wherever you are, inspire you in some way, and that in some shape or form you will be able to use it in your life.

Before manifestation
There is pure potentiality
Before potential there is power
A supreme presence
Resting in itself
It’s been called
A million names
Love, abundance, supreme-bliss
But for now let’s call it Joy
For to be in Joy
Is to be in Love
And love and joy is what
All the world seeks
But the wise know
To look within first
For the seed of all creation
Sleeps within
And joy is what gives it life
It’s been said that God
Is Joy
That’s why all the world
Is Driven by it
So be in Joy
and you’ll be in Love
Then you’ll touch
The Power
Of your own
Pure Potential

Own Your LifeWe were standing outside the Indigo bookstore down at Bay and Bloor in Toronto after sharing some great conversation and chai.

She was telling me about her past and some of the really tough challenges she’s been through.

And you could see something in her eyes…

But instead of playing the victim card she looked at me and said, “But you know, you’ve really got to own your life.”

So true. And so awesome.

It’s so easy to play the blame game. So easy to shift the responsibility onto someone else. It’s easy to point fingers

But you’re never going to get anywhere in your life until you take ownership of it. Continue Reading…

beleive in your dreams 10 keys

10 Keys to Achieving Your Dreams

It takes a lot of courage, a big heart and a dash of insanity to go for your dreams. But every truly happy person that I know is doing what they love. Be it as a career or as a business.

Daring to dream again is no easy task. It’s not like we’re taught how to do it in school. I’m not sure about you but I was taught to be a good little worker bee. Nothing wrong with worker bees. We need them. They’re essential to life and for you to succeed in business. Some people are just designed that way. But that’s not the type of person that visits this site. Dreamers, achievers and people who are interested in success for life stop by here for inspiration, tactics and tips to turn their dreams into realities.

It’s a winding road to unleashing your dreams. And I don’t ever remember anyone sitting me down and asking, “What’s the dream for your life Ian?”

It had to be revealed to me. Bit by bit. Piece by piece. I had to be ready to finally get the message. And once I heard it nothing has been the same.

Most people couldn’t imagine that Jay-Z, the self proclaimed King of hip-hop and former drug dealer would be bestowing blessings on people, but stranger things have happened.

And I’m guessing that a hard-knock life is bound to give you some keen insights on stuff.

So when I heard Jay-Z utter these words, “May the best of your today’s be the worst of your tomorrows.” I wasn’t totally surprised.

I figured a guy who’s running a multi-million dollar empire probably knows a thing or two about life. Continue Reading…
