Happiness Is…

Happiness Is the purpose of life

Happiness Is The Purpose of Life

The Dalai Lama believes the purpose of life is happiness.

He believes this so much that in the very first line of the first chapter of his book The Art of Happiness the Dalai Lama says this about happiness, “I believe that the very purpose of our life is to seek happiness.”

If that wasn’t straight to the point I don’t know what is.

He goes on to say this about purpose and happiness, “Whether one believes in religion or not, whether one believes in this religion or that religion, we all are seeking something better in life. So, I think that the very motion of our life is towards happiness…”

The very motion of our life is towards happiness…whether that journey leads us to find happiness within ourselves or compels us to search for happiness within the world.

Woven into the very fibre of our being is this urge or seed to discover true happiness.

Happiness & Purpose

So if happiness is the very purpose of our lives how can we start to live our lives on purpose or with purpose.

How To Find Happiness & Live Your Life On Purpose

  1. Stop Doing Things That Don’t Make You Happy
I know, I know, you’re saying this is easier said then done. But you don’t have to do drastic changes over night. You can do a little bit here and a little bit there. Slowly identifying and dropping the activities that don’t make you happy.
  2. Start Doing Things That Make You Happy
This can be as simple as setting some time aside to go for a nice bath. Again you don’t need to do huge changes. Just a little tweak to your routine can work wonders and bring more happiness into your life.
  3. Identify Your Gifts and Talents Then Express Them In Some Way
I believe that each and every one of us has particular gifts and talents. And when we express them we discover a deep happiness that’s hidden within. Time losses it’s grip on us and the hours just fly on by. (In a good way.) Why? Because we’re immersed in joy. We’re doing something not because we have to but because we want to.

These three keys to happiness: Stop doing things that don’t make you happy, start doing things that make you happy and express your gifts and talents are easy things we can do to have happier and more fulfilled lives.

Something that we all deserve. Because now we know that happiness is the very purpose of our lives.

Be happy!

  1. Happiness is underrated.

  2. It is totally underrated! We need to turn things are and ask ourselves and our children from an early age, “What makes you happy” and teach them how to discover it within as well.
